The Board of Trustees of the National Social Security Fund was established under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Establishment Act 28 of 1997, which was a result of the transformation of the National Provident Fund into the National Social Security Fund.

The vision of NSSF is to maintain its position as a leading provider of social security in Tanzania, basing on the internationally recognised social insurance principles.

The Fund aspires to be a leader in membership coverage, provision of a wide range of benefits, provision of meaningful benefits and in the knowledge of the social security discipline.

The Mission statement of the Fund is to be committed to meet members evolving social security needs and expectations through the utilisation of dedicated human resources and modern technology.

The Fund will provide services to its members and the general public on the basis of respect, integrity, innovativeness, promptness, accountability and reliability.
