NSSF Tries New ICT System To Mitigate Oracle Woes

The National Social Security Fund has embarked on a new Information Technology programme to mitigate recurring hardships caused by the existing network performance.

This was said on 23rd October 2010 at Njombe by Yahya Ali Madenge during the recent South-western Highlands Zone’s Operational Meeting.

Mr. Madenge was speaking on behalf of the Director of Information Technology.

He told participants from Rukwa, Mbeya, Ruvuma and Iringa NSSF regions at the meeting that the ICT Directorate was aware of the network’s shortcomings and that they had launched a pilot project in Arusha using a Vodacom network to go around it. He said the outcome of the trial was encouraging.

Mr. Madenge, however, noted that our newly developed systems are not a demon, arguing that most of the reported system problems/complaints were easily solvable.

He added that part of the problem was the need to orient staff on the usage of new ICT systems; to combat what he called ‘the fear of the unknown”.

Other papers presented at the annual conference were from Mbeya, Rukwa, Ruvuma and hosts Iringa region and discussed a wide range of operational, ICT and Investments issues. It was held under the chairmanship of the Iringa Regional Manager Mr. B. Mmuni.

Next year’s meeting will take place in Rukwa Region at a date to be communicated later.
